“En el hueco de una mano…”

“En el hueco de una mano...” [In the hole of a hand...] (2022-) is inspired after a phrase by Oteiza that points out that the greatest monumental sculptures fit in the hollow space of a hand. Reflecting on the hand as a space and tool for creation, resonances begin to open up with Shakespeare’s nutshell or Blake’s seeing a world in a grain of sand, which link the minimal, the infraleve, or the ephemeral with the most universal that surpasses our capacities, but always through perception and imagination. In the midst of this exploration, I presuppose that by closing my hand, a camera obscura phenomenon is created in the hollow dark space, and the project aims to study that vulnerable image that when I open my hand, it ceases to be visible and fades away without a trace.
